RAID setup
There is "PERC S100 Virtual Disk Management". but that is WINDOWS-ONLY SOFTWARE RAID on the chipset. Don't use it.
Press Control+R during boot to enter.
If you don't get an Ctrl+R option during boot, go to BIOS (hit F2), go to SATA settings and switch from ATA mode to "RAID mode".
After enabling that you need to confirm it TWICE by hitting Y when getting this message:
Warning: Detected mode change from ATA mode to RAID mode on the embedded
SATA controller.
Data loss will occur!
Press <Y> to confirm the change, press any other key to cancel.
Now you should get the CTRL+R option to get into PERC management.
In there you need to:
- delete virtual disks
- initialize physical disks (for PERC)
- create virtual disks
- select type RAID 1 (which we typically want)
- select Caching Policy (Read or Read/Write)
- continue Booting
