BIOS settings The following settings should normally be changed from the defaults & MUST BE CHANGED VIA PHYSICAL CONSOLE:
*The bios controller on iDRAC7 is very different than the previous versions * iDRAC7 does not offer a CTRL-E option for NETWORK settings * During initial boot and from the Physical Console press F2 to enter BIOS settings * A Dell Main Menu GUI will appear and offer 3 options: System BIOS; iDRAC Settings; Device Settings (You can either use the mouse or TAB key)
Required System BIOS Setting Changes ▪ Processor Settings
* Disable Logical Processor * Disable Virtualization Technology
▪ Serial Communications
* Change Serial Communication setting to: "On with console redirection via com2" * Change Serial Port Address to: "Serial Device1=COM1, Serial Device2=COM2" * Disable Redirection after reboot
▪ Save and Exit and go back to main menu Required iDRAC Settings ▪ Network
* Change the IPv4 Information; (Management, Gateway, Subnet) * Change the IPMI Settings 'Enable IPMI Over LAN' from DISABLE to ENABLED
▪ User Configuration
* Change root password
- Save and Exit to go back to Main Menu
Obtaining MAC Address ▪ During initial BOOT, press F2 ▪ At Main Menu enter "Device Settings" ▪ Click on NIC1 RAID Controller Changes ▪ During initial BOOT, press F2 ▪ At Main Menu enter "Device Settings" ▪ Click on RAID Controller
