BIOS settings
The following settings should normally be changed from the defaults & MUST BE CHANGED VIA PHYSICAL CONSOLE:
- The bios controller on iDRAC7 is very different than the previous versions
- iDRAC7 does not offer a CTRL-E option for NETWORK settings
- During initial boot and from the Physical Console press F2 to enter BIOS settings
- A Dell Main Menu GUI will appear and offer 3 options: System BIOS; iDRAC Settings; Device Settings (You can either use the mouse or TAB key)
Required System BIOS Setting Changes
- Processor Settings
* Disable Logical Processor * Disable Virtualization Technology
- Serial Communications
* Change Serial Communication setting to: "On with console redirection via com2" * Change Serial Port Address to: "Serial Device1=COM1, Serial Device2=COM2" * Disable Redirection after reboot
- Save and Exit and go back to main menu
Required iDRAC Settings
- Network
* Change the IPv4 Information; (Management, Gateway, Subnet)
- User Configuration
* Change root password
* Save and Exit to go back to Main Menu
Obtaining MAC Address
- During initial BOOT, press F2
- At Main Menu enter "Device Settings"
- Click on NIC1
RAID Controller Changes
- During initial BOOT, press F2
- At Main Menu enter "Device Settings"
- Click on RAID Controller
