BIOS settings
The following settings should normally be changed from the defaults & MUST BE CHANGED VIA PHYSICAL CONSOLE:
- The bios controller on iDRAC7 is very different than the previous versions
- During initial boot and from the Physical Console press F2 to enter BIOS settings
- A Dell Main Menu GUI will appear and offer 3 options (You can either use the mouse or TAB key)
- System BIOS - iDRAC Settings - Device Settings
Required System BIOS Setting Changes
* Under Processor Settings
- Disable Logical Processor
- Disable Virtualization Technology
* Under Serial Communications
- Change Serial Communication setting to: "On with console redirection via com2"
- Change Serial Port Address to: "Serial Device1=COM1, Serial Device2=COM2"
- Disable Redirection after reboot
* Save and Exit and go back to main menu
Required iDRAC Settings
* Under Network
- Change the IPv4 Information; (Management, Gateway, Subnet)
* Under User Configuration
- Change root password
- Save and Exit to go back to Main Menu
Obtaining MAC Address
- During initial BOOT, press F2
- At Main Menu enter "Device Settings"
- Click on NIC1
RAID Controller Changes
- During initial BOOT, press F2
- At Main Menu enter "Device Settings"
- Click on RAID Controller
